No WFW today & giveaway delay

This certainly has been an interesting week for our family. The reason there is no Wallet-Friendly Wednesday today, and for the delay in giveaways is that we have had a really nasty stomach bug running through our house. I'm praying that we're on the back end of it, but it's definitely NOT been fun. On top of that my computer's hard drive fried out of the blue on Monday, and I'm just waiting for the new one to be installed. Fun times! Anyway, when all of this has passed, I'll be back up and running. Thanks for your patience!

October 20, 2010

Didn't we just start this month?! Why is it the 20th already? Wow, time flies! Is it going as quickly for you? We're only two months away from my daughter's 2nd birthday, which blows my mind. We're only two months away from Christmas, if you can believe that. And we're only a little over two months away from a brand new year! When I was growing up, the 2000's seemed like the age of the Jetsons, and now here we are getting ready to turn the page into 2011! And we ARE in the age of the Jetsons . . . sort of.

Wallet-Friendly Wednesday (a day late), 10/14–10/19

Bargain Brag Wednesday

October 14, 2010

I'm a day late, and a dollar short, it seems. Better late than never, right? Right?! :o) We were on vacation all last week, and it's taking me a while to get caught up on things. It was a wonderful vacation, though! We were with lots of family, and in a beautiful place. If you follow my photography, I'll be posting some great pics, soon. We also had the construction work done on our kitchen while we were gone, and things are starting to look very different! I'm hoping to share more in the coming months, about how we've saved money and tried to be budget-conscious with this kitchen remodel. Our cabinets are on order, and everything should really start to come together early in November. Woo-hoo! You might be interested to know that I'm using Swagbucks to partially fund our kitchen hardware. :o)

Happy 100, Giveaway #2: Maylee's Garden Handmade Vegan Products! (CLOSED)

HAPPY 100, GIVEAWAY #2!

Oh, I just love giveaways . . . don't you?! If you didn't catch my post announcing my Happy 100! giveaways during the month of October, that's ok. You've only missed the first giveaway from Lauren Alexander.

About the giveaways . . . each one will last 72 hours—that's 3 days. I'll announce all the winners when all the giveaways have ended, so you'll have to wait to see if you won. I know—the suspense is just too much!

The next giveaway is from Libby at Maylee's Garden—Handmade Vegan Laundry Detergent and More!

As a Kentucky artisan, Libby's been making and selling soap full time since 2008. She's a woman after my own heart, because her business was born out of a desire to cut costs around the house. Her soaps are also inspired by her desire to have a pure natural product for her family to use at bath time.

Coconut Orange and Lime Scented Eco friendly Laundry detergent:

Libby says that seeing all the cancer-causing chemicals in  commercially made soaps made her think twice about using them. Her laundry soaps were also made from a desire to have chemical free cleaners in her house. She cleans with only natural products like vinegar, borax, and water. Her son is also prone to breakouts from laundry soaps and he has never had a reaction to her detergents.

She's also environmentally conscious in her business practices. Libby uses recycled packaging whenever possible. "I love to recycle and reuse whenever I can," she says. "I was raised by parents who lived through the Great Depression, so I learned the value of living on less, reusing and re-purposing things you have around you."

Everything in the Maylee's Garden store is also vegan. Libby does not use alcohol, and makes everything from scratch. Libby is very proud of her products!

Here's a sampling of some of her wonderful creations (I can almost smell them just by the name!):

Warm Vanilla Sugar Perfume oil:

Pumpkin Pie Spice Scented Vegan Soap:

Lavender and Orange Eco friendly laundry detergent:

Now for the giveaway . . . Maylee's Garden will award the winner their choice of 1 bag of her homemade, vegan laundry detergent (a $13 value)!
