A crafty little project: lamp and picture frames

If you remember, I recently completed a dramatic brass chandelier makeover for just $4.40, and I've been wanting to use the rest of my black spray paint. My trigger finger's been itchy, so I've been looking over our abode for things I can paint black, without going too crazy and painting everything I see. :) So, I did notice these simple, cheap wood frames that I bought way back in college at Wal-Mart for next to nothing, and I've been wanting to do something with them for quite some time. I grabbed them off the wall. I also noticed this cheap little glass lamp in our bedroom that had a brass base. I don't have a before pic of it, but when you see the "after" just imagine the body in glass, and then just the base in brass. I went to work . . .

Frames before:

After prepping my table with newspaper (lots and lots of newspaper), and making sure I had good ventilation, I laid out my frames, taped off the electrical parts of my lamp, and went to work. Helpful tip: when working with spray paint indoors, it's good to get some of those nose/mouth masks so you don't end up blowing black gunk out of your nose for the next couple of days. Also, something I didn't mention the last time, but had people ask me about—I used the type of spray paint that specifically listed metal (e.g. brass) and glass as surfaces it would adhere to.

I was again amazed at what a nice look the black paint gave everything. And I already had the can of spray paint, so this project ended up costing me nothing! You gotta love that!
